Civic activist to be sentenced for seeking lewd photos of young girls

Environmental activist Bob Wenzlau, 67, will be sentenced on Jan. 8 after pleading no contest to felony charges of possessing child pornography and seeking lewd photos of young girls. The plea deal, signed on Aug. 19 according to court records, indicates a maximum sentence of five years and a tentative sentence of up to 18 months in state prison. A no contest plea means Wenzlau does not admit guilt, but will allow the court to treat him as if he were guilty for the purpose of sentencing. Under the terms of the deal, Wenzlau would also have to register as a sex offender. He was scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 13, but it was delayed to January.
