A special election has been announced to fill the vacant seat in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District following the resignation of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene . The district includes Chattooga County , along with parts of Northwest Georgia, and will soon see a field of candidates seeking to represent the region in Washington. State officials have confirmed the election will be conducted using a “jungle primary” format. In a jungle primary, all candidates — regardless of political party — appear on the same ballot , and voters choose among the entire field. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote , the top two vote-getters advance to a runoff election, even if they are from the same party. This format can produce competitive, multi-candidate races and places added emphasis on campaigning and voter outreach across the entire district. A runoff, if required, would ultimately determine who fills the congressional seat.
