Environmental review questions whether Forsyth can handle proposed billion – dollar data center

The Middle Georgia Regional Commission collected feedback from state and local agencies on the Forsyth Technology Campus, a project that would span 1,600 acres off Johnsonville Road . Several agencies flagged major concerns about water capacity, air quality and traffic impacts. The project would need 1.5 million gallons of water per day, more than the entire county currently uses , according to the environmental review. Monroe County officials wrote in their response that “the City of Forsyth has evidenced as late as 2025 that the water supply produced by the City for existing customers is insufficient.” “Right now the developer thinks it’s gonna be 1.5 million gallons,” Bo Drinkard, who lives in the nearby Riata neighborhood, said. “The problem with that is the developer won’t commit to what type of cooling system they’re gonna use.” County officials n
