Wallace named Floyd County Commission chair

The Floyd County Commission has elected a new chair for the coming year. On Tuesday, commissioners selected Rhonda Wallace for the job. Wallace moves up from the vice-chair job. “I wanted to say what an honor it has been for the last three years to serve with Allison [Watters] being our chair,” Wallace said. “Her guidance and courage over the past few years have been awesome and have been a tremendous help to this group. I thank each of you for voting for me to be chair. I promise to lead with integrity, wisdom, and compassion.” Wallace is a lifelong resident of Floyd County and has served on the commission since 2012. She has spent over 40 years in the banking industry and serves as Senior Vice President and Commercial Relationship Manager at River City Bank. Scotty Hancock, who is serving his final year on the commission, was chosen as vice chair. Hancock is a former Floyd County employee who served seven years in the United States Army with the 25th Infantry Division. He was elected to the commission in 2014 and is currently director of business development for the Georgia market at AdventHealth Redmond.
