Police outsmart burglars in West Chester , foil attempted break – In

West Chester police arrested four suspects believed to be part of a South American theft ring as the group attempted to burglarize a Beckett Ridge home. The home, previously burglarized in 2024, was targeted again by people believed to be connected to a South American Theft Group, which police say focuses on homes owned by minority business owners. Lt. Dave Tivin of West Chester police explained that these groups study their victims closely. “They study their victims. They know where they work, when they leave for work, when they get home, what kind of cars they drive. They develop a pattern of life for them,” Tivin said. Since 2024, more than ten homes in the township, all belonging to Asian or Latino business owners, have been targeted by these theft groups. Investigators noted that suspects often start at the business, identify the owner, and follow them home. “We’ve obtained ledgers that they have that will actually have the address with comments about what kind of cars these people have, businesses that they own,” Tivin said.
