District 2 council hosts town hall meeting

LaGrange District 2 council’s first town hall tackles data centers, safer streets, housing, new park, cricket stadium, Hamilton Road widening and large retail project. Tommy Murphy The members of LaGrange City Council District 2 hosted a town hall meeting at Confidence Baptist Church on Thursday night to discuss ongoing community issues and take questions and suggestions from those in attendance. The meeting is a first for the trio, Councilman Leon Childs, Councilman Quay Boddie and newly-elected Councilwoman Ameia Cotton Williams, but more are planned in the future. The council members organized the meeting, but Mayor Jim Arrington was also present in the audience and answered some questions as well. When asked why no District 1 council members were present, Arrington explained that if any additional council members were there, it likely would have constituted an unlawful meeting of the council, as they would have a quorum and could have hypothetically voted on official city business.
