Dougherty County this week. The 37th Annual Georgia Quail Hunt is happening the first week of February. The Georgia Chamber of Commerce organizes the invitation-only event. It brings together state and local leaders along with business executives and economic developers who are interested in expanding their enterprises in Georgia. Governor Brian Kemp, Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson and Georgia Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Chris Clark are among those who attended Wednesday’s festivities. While the hunt allows business leaders from all over the chance to meet people who have chosen to live and work in South Georgia, it also gives state leaders a chance to showcase statewide attributes that make Georgia an attractive home for business expansion. The Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s annual quail hunt started in 1994. Since that time, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce estimates participants have pumped billions of dollars into the Georgia economy and created thousands of jobs statewide.
