The weekend violence began early Saturday morning, March 7 with a shooting in the 100 block of East Washington Street, near North Pennsylvania Street. Police arrested a 29-year-old man who allegedly shot and critically injured another man. According to court documents, the shooting stemmed from a fight, and the shooter is claiming self-defense after surveillance video shows two men attacking him before the shooting. IMPD said aggravated assault detectives arrested a 29-year-old man on preliminary charges of robbery, criminal confinement and strangulation. (NOTE: 13News has a policy to not name suspects until formal charges are followed by prosecutors.) Then Saturday night , court documents say a man was arrested after allegedly speeding away from officers in the 200 block of South Meridian Street, near East Georgia Street.
