Girl Scout First Class awards have been presented to Tina Garner and Julianna Mathews during ceremonies at Second Avenue United Methodist Church. First Class is the highest award in Girl Scouting and an expression of high spiritual and ethical ideals. Miss Mathews, 14, resides with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Mathews in Lindale. She attends the eighth grade at St. Mary’s. A Girl Scout for eight years, Miss Mathews has been a Brownie, Junior and Cadette Scout in Troop 114 at Second Avenue Methodist Church. Her troop leaders are Mrs. Jean Garner and Mrs. Jo Cunningham. Miss Mathews has been a troop scribe and assistant patrol leader. A dance teacher at Rome Dance Academy, her hobbies include ice skating, crafts and sewing. Miss Garner, 14, is an eighth-grade student at East Rome Junior High school and attends St. Mary’s Church. Working as a Brownie, Junior and Cadette, he has been in scouting for eight years in Troop 114. She has been an assistant patrol leader and a patrol leader. Her hobbies include embroidering, roller skating, piano and babysitting.
