GBI: Two arrested in connection with shots fired at Cairo City Manager

CAIRO, Ga. (WCTV) – Two people were arrested in connection with a shooting involving the Cairo City Manager Booker Gainor, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Ja’Zavion Deyounks, 19, and Todd Gibbs, 28, are charged with aggravated assault. The charges stem from a June shooting near Aldredge Road and Highway 188 in Grady County. Cairo City Manager Booker Gainor was driving a UTC and pulled over on the side of the road to make a phone call when a sedan drove up behind him, according to GBI. Gainor reported multiple shots were fired from the direction of the sedan. He drove away with no injuries or damage to the UTV, GBI said. GBI did not provide information about the investigation leading to these arrests, but said once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney for review and prosecution. There is no indication as to whether or not the shooting was or could have been politically motivated. GBI says the pair were arrested on July 30 and booked into the Grady County Jail.
