STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Stockbridge Mayor Jayden Williams, 22, attended a Stockbridge City Council work session Tuesday night as he faces allegations of misusing city funds and sexual misconduct. In a packed and contentious meeting, the council and residents addressed the ongoing investigation and the council’s decision earlier this month to restrict some of Williams’ access privileges. The council temporarily suspended the city-issued spending card tied to the mayor’s office while allowing him to continue presiding over meetings. Several residents spoke in support of Williams. “There is too many shenanigans going on, and it’s no benefit to you, we want to protect you. You may be young, nobody wants to get rid of you, but who know who. Stand your ground, you are the mayor, stick it out,” said Charles Dubbs, a Stockbridge business owner. At least one resident criticized the mayor during public comment. “As time went on I began to see things that were not of the norm of a mayor,” the resident said. Williams’ lead attorney, Robert Kenner Jr., denied the allegations on the mayor’s behalf. “We have not had one document or shred of evidence to tell us what they’re talking about,” Kenner said. Williams and his attorneys dispute the claims. In remarks referenced by the legal team, Kenner said the allegations involve about $4,000 that they say can be accounted for, and he questioned the cost of hiring an investigator.
