Furr Presents on Feathers at Fayette Master Gardeners | The Citizen

Environmental educator Melanie Furr will speak on “A Year in the Life of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird” Tuesday, August 18, at the Fayette Master Gardener Association (FMGA) meeting at 10 a.m.  The public is invited to the meeting at The Bridge Community Center, 225 Willow Bend Road, Peachtree City, and to the social time at 9:30 a.m.  A business meeting will begin at 11 a.m.   Furr founded Feathers with FURR in 2025 after a career as director of education at Birds Georgia. She leads birding tours in the U.S. and abroad and developed a bird education curriculum for schools. She is also a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. FMGA is a non-profit gardening group that includes master gardeners and others interested in gardening.  Members do not have to be certified Master Gardeners but many are.  The group meets monthly August – May for horticultural emphasis presentations and hosts an annual plant sale.  Proceeds from this event support Fayette non-profit community horticultural projects and a college scholarship for Fayette residents majoring in horticulture or agriculture.
