Lowndes County Health Department to offer free flu vaccines in schools

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) – With children back in school, and flu season quickly approaching, the Lowndes County Health Department is making it free and easy to protect students against the flu. The Health Department announced Wednesday that it will be offering free in-school vaccine clinics for students and staff. No insurance will be required. In order for students to take part in the clinic, parents or guardians will need to sign a consent form. The Health Department says those should be available at your child’s school, as well as online at southhealthdistrict.com/lowndesflu. Forms are due by September 15. Health officials recommend the flu vaccine every year for everyone 6 months and older. Georgia’s 2025-26 flu season peaked around the New Year, according to data from the CDC. For more information about the free clinics, call the Lowndes County Health Department at (229) 333-5257 or visit their website.
