ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A man was fatally struck by an SUV in front of his Coweta County home Wednesday, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP). Troopers said an SUV traveling westbound on Earl North Road in unincorporated Newnan went through the stop sign at Old Corinth Road, then went through the fence of a house across the street. A resident of the home was in the driveway at the time. The driver hit the resident, then struck the house, according to GSP. Troopers said the driver tried to leave, but was taken into custody by Coweta County sheriff’s deputies in a field near the house. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Charges against the driver are pending, according to GSP. The identities of the driver and resident have not been released. This is a developing story. Check back with Atlanta News First for updates.
