With CASA Awareness Day set for Jan. 22, Advocates for Children is shining a light on the CASA of Northwest Georgia program and its need for additional volunteers. “CASA Awareness Day is just that; we are trying to spread awareness about the CASA network in the community,” CASA Program Director Emily Ciavarro said. “The more people are talking about it, the more likely those who would be a great fit will learn about it, and the children and families involved in our court systems can benefit. We are asking individuals to wear red, especially red shoes, on CASA Awareness Day and talk to others in the community about what our program is and how they could be involved. “The event is to raise awareness for abused and neglected children in foster care, symbolizing their journey home and encouraging community involvement in advocating for these vulnerable youth, with activities like sharing on social media and recruiting new volunteers. We’re encouraging in-person engagement as well as social media hashtags like #CASAAwarenessDay, #WearRedShoes, and #NoPlaceLikeHome.” Prior to CASA Awareness Day, CASA of Northwest G
