The national recognition honors healthcare leaders who are making a significant impact through strategic leadership, clinical excellence, innovation, and a commitment to improving the health of the communities they serve, the health system said in a press release. Matney was recognized for transforming Colquitt Regional Health System into a thriving independent rural health system and teaching institution, the release said. Under his leadership, the organization has expanded access to specialty care, significantly grown its physician workforce, developed multiple graduate medical education programs, and strengthened healthcare access throughout South Georgia.
