Cold Case: Remains found in Chatham County still unidentified after more than 30 years

More than three decades after a man’s remains were found in Chatham County, authorities are still working to identify him. The man was found Jan. 27, 1991, near Little Neck Road, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He was between 5 feet, 11 inches and 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighed more than 200 pounds. Investigators estimate he was born between 1931 and 1941. He had black hair, but his eye color is unknown. The GBI has released two images of what he may have looked like: The man wore upper dentures and had no lower teeth when he was found. Investigators determined his upper teeth had been extracted years before his death. The GBI’s public case summary does not provide details about how the man died or the circumstances surrounding the discovery of his remains. Anyone who recognizes the description or has information that could help identify the man is asked to contact the Chatham County Police Department at 912-652-6920.
