Fallen tree cuts power to Sagamore Hills Elementary

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A tree fell on an electrical line Monday, knocking out power at Sagamore Hills Elementary School on the first day of the 2026-27 school year. Students were relocated to nearby Lakeside High School for classes, according to a DeKalb County School District spokesperson. The power outage also affected neighboring homes, with Atlanta News First reporting that an estimated 127 Georgia Power customers were without electricity. The elementary school’s students will have lunch at Lakeside High and will return to Sagamore Hills once electricity is restored, officials said. Georgia Power personnel are working to repair the damage and restore power to the school and its neighbors. The outage should be resolved by 12:30 p.m., officials said.
