AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Longtime Richmond Deputy Robbie Silas, currently the Major over the department’s Special Operations Division has been arrested. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed the Monday evening arrest to News 12. Silas was booked into jail in Wilkes County with the charges of pandering, solicitation for sodomy and violation of oath by public officer, according to booking records. Silas will stay tonight in Wilkes County until his bond appearance in Richmond County sometime tomorrow. Silas ran for public office against Scott Peebles and Richard Roundtree, a race for sheriff won by Richard Roundtree who took office in 2012. Law enforcement sources say that agents from the GBI served a search warrant at Silas’s home in Hepzibah late Monday. This is a developing story, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has been asked for a statement. Copyright 2026 WRDW/WAGT. All rights reserved.
