Georgia sex offender arrested in Webster County

Webster County, W.Va (WDTV) – A Georgia sex offender was arrested in Webster County after resisting arrest and possessing a firearm. Gerald Boggess, 68, has been charged with obstructing an officer, possession of a firearm, attempt to commit a felony, and attempting to flee, according to the West Virginia State Police (WVSP). On Sunday, the West Virginia State Police observed a red Honda speeding on Pearl Lane and, without yielding, pull onto Coon Creek Road. Upon stopping the vehicle, Boggess immediately exited his vehicle in an assumed attempt to flee and began placing his hands in his pockets. Reports state that the officer instructed Boggess to return to his vehicle and to stop placing his hands in his pockets, to which Boggess became confrontational and began arguing. Officers then asked Boggess if he had anything that he shouldn’t, to which he responded “yup,” and began to reach into his pocket again. While officers attempted to further detain Boggess, he continued to forcibly resist and attempting to reach into the right pocket of his pants.
