Police responded about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday to a reported assault and hit-and-run at Five Below, 10450 Canal Crossing Road. Based on witness and victim statements and surveillance video, officers said Ja’niya Allen, 17, threw an item that struck a Five Below employee in the head. Police said Allen then fled in a vehicle, striking a parked car and a pedestrian. Using the vehicle’s license plate, officers went to Perry Place, where they found a car with damage consistent with the incident, police said.
