A man serving a life sentence for a murder conviction in Toombs County died Oct. 21 at Macon State Prison, the Georgia Department of Corrections said. The department identified the man as Juld Carter and said it is investigating his death as a homicide. Officials said Carter’s death was not connected to the prison lockdown impacting 26 Georgia facilities Thursday, including Macon State Prison. GDC has not released any other details at this time.
