Editor’s note: The video above is from a previous report. ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A person is dead after being shot by officers Thursday afternoon in northwest Atlanta, police said. Atlanta police said officers went to a home on the 1100 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard to serve a domestic violence warrant when the suspect and another person got into a car and drove away. The vehicle allegedly rammed a police car and officers shot the driver, who died at the scene, according to police. Police said the driver was not the subject of the warrant. The subject of the warrant is still at large. Neither the deceased driver nor the subject of the warrant has been identified. An Atlanta News First crew saw an SUV pinned between a patrol car and a fence. “Community members are advised to avoid the area while officers respond,” the department said soon after the shooting. “There is no immediate threat to the public at this time.” The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed Atlanta police have asked the agency to look into the incident, which is customary for shootings that involve law enforcement.
