SAVANNAH RIVER PRODUCTIONS HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR 1776

The Savannah River Playhouse is holding auditions this month for its summer theatre production celebrating America’s 250th Birthday. The Company will hold auditions on Saturday, February 21, for its production of the Tony-award winning play, “1776 the Musical.” Performances will be June 26 – 28 at Hart County High School pending approval from the Hart County School Board. 1776 premiered on Broadway in 1969, and follows John Adams’s efforts to persuade the Second Continental Congress to declare independence, They will be auditioning for 23 male parts and two female roles. Some of the parts for men include John Hancock, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Dr. Lyman Hall from Georgia. The two female roles are for Abigail Adams and Martha Jefferson. Auditions will take place at the Savannah River Playhouse on Augusta Road in Lavonia between 10 a.m. and noon. Be prepared to sing a song of your choice and read from the script.
