Telfair County magistrate judge resigns amid GBI investigation into improper conduct , per court records

The court documents show that Brian Selph , Chief Judge of the Telfair County Magistrate Court, has resigned from his position effective Jan. 14, 2026. Selph is accused of meeting with people who had pending cases in Telfair County at his rental home and engaging in “extra-judicial activities” with them at the rental home, according to the court records. Those meetings violated the Georgia Code of Judicial Conduct, per the documents. Selph’s resignation comes as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into his conduct, according to prior 13WMAZ reporting. The GBI said they were also investigating the actions of other public officials in Telfair County.
