Gordon Chapter 383 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, chartered in Thomasville on May 9, 1900, continues its mission 126 years later. The chapter’s objectives are historical, educational, memorial, benevolent and patriotic. President Sheila Massey Tucker recently led the chapter’s board meeting, where officers and committee chairmen gathered to plan activities and establish the 2026-27 budget. The budget includes funding for displays recognizing patriotic observances, including Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Georgia Day. Members also plan to present U.S. flags and patriotic books to schoolchildren, provide Christmas stockings for veterans living in nursing homes, and recognize military service members, homeland defense personnel and first responders throughout the year.
