UPDATE (9/8/26): Longtime firefighter Bobby Taylor died Monday after battling cancer, according to a Facebook post from Monroe County Emergency Services. The agency said Taylor was surrounded by his family. In a post of its own, the Forsyth Fire Department called Taylor the “epitome of a true public servant.” “Today, we pray and grieve alongside the Taylor family as we mourn the loss of Bobby Taylor,” the post said. “Bobby was the epitome of a true public servant. Throughout his years of service with MCES, he responded into the City of Forsyth many times to assist our department during incidents. No matter the situation, Bobby was always a helping hand and a welcome face during some of the toughest moments. He was dependable. He was selfless. And when help was needed, Bobby was someone you could count on to show up. Our department and our community mourn the loss of a great public servant and friend. We are forever grateful for Bobby’s service, his willingness to help others, and the impact he made on those fortunate enough to serve alongside him.” Taylor’s funeral will be held Thursday, September 10 at Maynard Baptist Church, located at 1195 Juliette Road in Forsyth. Visitation with honors begins at 3 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m. A procession to the graveside service with honors will take place immediately after the funeral.
