What Happened at the Summit
This year’s summit was full of learning and sharing. People talked about new ideas, like using AI (artificial intelligence) and automation (machines that do tasks on their own) to help move things faster and safer. Leaders from businesses like The Home Depot, Havertys Furniture, and TOTO USA shared how they use technology to make shipping better.
There were also talks about how Georgia is helping students get ready for jobs in logistics. That means teaching them important skills so they can work in these jobs one day—like learning how to use computers, solve problems, and work with smart machines.
Big Investments to Keep Georgia Moving
To keep Georgia a top place for moving goods, the state is spending a lot of money on new roads, bridges, and ports (places where ships come in and out). For example:
- The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is working on a plan called the Georgia Freight Program. It’s getting $1 billion to improve highways and make it easier for trucks to move through the state.

Leaders like Sonny Perdue, who runs the University System of Georgia, and Greg Dozier, who leads the state’s technical colleges, talked about new programs. One cool idea is called “Dual Achievement”. This lets students who didn’t finish high school earn both a high school diploma and a college certificate at the same time. That way, they can get jobs sooner and start building their futures.
There’s also a program called High Demand Career Initiatives that helps people learn skills that companies really need. These include using computers, working with machines, and solving tough problems. The goal is to match what students learn with the jobs available now—and in the future.
Future Innovators Win Big
The summit also included a fun contest called the Future Innovators in Supply Chain competition. College students were asked to make videos about what it’s like to work in logistics. The team from Kennesaw State University won first place and got a $3,000 grant for their school. Their video showed what a supply chain is and why it matters. The winning team called themselves “The Masters of Logistinomics.”
