Ted’s Montana Grill, a restaurant serving classic American dishes, is opening an Athens location in Beechwood on Monday, Aug. 24, according to a press release. The restaurant will be the company’s first location in Athens and its 12th in Georgia. The restaurant was founded in 2002 by Ted Turner and George McKerrow, who wanted to open a restaurant rooted in quality and authenticity. McKerrow, founder of LongHorn Steakhouse, also opened the original LongHorn Steakhouse in Athens more than 30 years ago. Ted’s menu features ranch-raised American bison as the centerpiece, reflecting the restaurant’s Great American West-inspired design. McKerrow said bringing the “Big Sky Spirit” to Athens has been a longtime goal of his. "Athens is a special place that reflects everything Ted's represents – friendly, genuine people who care about their community and have a deep appreciation for tradition, great food and hospitality,” McKerrow said. The Athens location will be led by proprietor Terence Holton, who said he is excited to welcome guests. “We look forward to welcoming Bulldog Nation, becoming part of the Athens community, and creating a place where friends and families can gather, celebrate, and enjoy great food together,” Holton said.
