Savannah-Chatham schools back in session: Police reactivate school zone cameras, drivers urged to slow down

SAVANNAH, Ga. AAA and local authorities urge anyone behind the wheel to slow down in school zones and watch for students walking or riding their bikes to class. According to Savannah Police, the cameras will operate 45 minutes before the school day starts and will remain active until 30 minutes after dismissal. Under Georgia law, tickets can be issued to drivers traveling 10 miles per hour or more over the posted school zone speed limit.
