Amicalola EMC gives over $490 , 000 to local communities

Amicalola EMC has approved over $490,000 in community funding for 2025 for local organizations in its service area, including in Cherokee County. The city of Ball Ground and the Funk Heritage Center in Waleska are two of many communities and organizations receiving funding through the Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation as the year comes to an end. In 2025, Amicalola EMC Board of Directors approved the return of more than $2.1 million in capital credits to members who received electric service in 2004. Members with active accounts saw the refund as a credit on their September power bill, while those without an active account will receive a check by mail — provided a current mailing address is on file. Unclaimed funds are retained for five years.
