He got what he deserved : Former inmate testifies in Lee County murder trial

LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A Lee County woman accused of fatally shooting her husband in 2020 returned to court Wednesday, March 4, as jurors heard testimony from a jail inmate who claims she admitted to the killing. Sherry Guzman is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in the death of her husband, Robert Guzman. Prosecutors called Tony Rizzo, who is currently serving a prison sentence for sexual exploitation of a child. >> READ MORE: Man sentenced in Lee Co. child sex offenses case << Rizzo testified that he and Guzman were housed in nearby holding cells and that he overheard her make incriminating statements about the shooting. “She said that she gave him what he deserved,” Rizzo told the court. “She was being cheated on, and she was very unhappy about that. And that, you know, in shooting him, that he got what he deserved. That he’s dead and he got what he deserved.
