Historic Macon hires new executive director | Find out who

The nonprofit based in Macon announced its board of directors voted on Tuesday to hire Emily Hopkins as their new executive director. According to the release, Hopkins joins the nonprofit after her time with NewTown Macon, where she served as its vice president of external affairs. The release said Hopkins handled strategic programming, partnerships and engagement efforts which helped bring around a million visitors to downtown Macon annually. Hopkins replaces the former executive director, Nathan Lott , who unexpectedly announced his resignation on Dec. 11, 2025. His last day was New Year’s Eve. “Emily is a dedicated community leader,” Pat Muse, chairman of Historic Macon’s board, said in a statement. “With more than a decade of experience advancing historic preservation, downtown revitalization and place-based economic development in Macon-Bibb County, Emily is well-positioned to fulfill our mission and grow our reputation as a local and national leader in c
