LaGrange councilman resigns following investigation, plea deal

LAGRANGE, Ga. (WTVM) – LaGrange City councilman Marquavious “Quay” Boddie has resigned his position days after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor public indecency charge. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation began looking into a complaint filed in March following Boddie’s dismissal from LaGrange College. Court documents obtained in August indicate Boddie pleaded guilty to public indecency for exposing himself to a female student inside his LaGrange College office on February 6. Boddie was terminated from the school shortly after the incident. Boddie was also charged and pleaded guilty to obstructing the case by falsely stating he did not expose himself to the student in a February 20 interview. Mayor Jim Arrington released a statement on Saturday confirming Boddie’s resignation from the city council. “Serving as an elected official is a position of public trust, and we have a responsibility to uphold the confidence our citizens place in us. I respect Councilmember Boddie’s decision to resign from the LaGrange City Council,” said Arrington. “I appreciate his service to the City of LaGrange and to the residents of his district. The City Council will continue to serve the people of LaGrange with integrity, accountability, and respect. We will remain focused on the work ahead and on doing what is best for our community,” Arrington continued. Boddie was appointed to city council in 2023. Copyright 2026 WTVM. All rights reserved.
