MDJ Publisher Otis Brumby III presents Citizen of the Year Award to James Rhoden Jr. at the Cobb Chamber of Commerce annual dinner. CUMBERLAND — The Marietta Daily Journal presented Jim Rhoden, known for a lifetime of service and community building, with the Citizen of the Year Award on Saturday night. Every year since 1963, the newspaper has awarded the Citizen of the Year Award to a distinguished and deserving individual or group. Jim Rhoden is Cobb County Citizen of the Year MDJ Publisher Otis Brumby III surprised Rhoden with the award during the Cobb Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner at the Cobb Convention Center Atlanta before an audience of more than 200 people. When Rhoden received his award, he gave his thanks to everyone who has helped him toward this moment of recognition. “First of all, thank you for this award. I’d like to thank my friend and former wife, Sally, mother of my children, for all that she has done to help and all she’s committed and contributed to everything I’ve done. I would not be receiving this award without her support in the 40 years we were together,” Rhoden said. He also thanked the MDJ and the chamber, which he said has been supportive of his end
