ABBEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Wilcox County Board of Elections and Registration is considering proposed changes to several voting precincts within the county and is seeking public input. The proposed changes would consolidate two sets of existing precincts and, in one case, relocate a polling place. Under the proposal, the polling location would remain at the Newt Hudson Agricultural Building, but the Rochelle North and Rochelle South precincts would be combined into a single precinct. Voters from both precincts have already been voting at the same building, but as separate precincts. Voters in the Abbeville North and Abbeville South precincts would also be consolidated into one precinct. The polling location would move from the Joy Theater to the Evelyn Warren Community Center at 211 West Monroe St. in Abbeville. The Board of Elections and Registration will hold a public hearing to receive comments and concerns regarding the proposed precinct changes.
